Our Mission

Nurturing Our Village has been created to help foster, adoptive and all other parents and children connect to the resources they need to thrive. We also want to connect those wanting to help with opportunities that will make an impact.

There is a place for everyone in Our Village.

Unemployed Veterans

Due to the weak job market and Covid restrictions, employment has been difficult for veterans to obtain. We are preparing to help with employment benefits such as job training, resume writing and education.

Homeless Veterans

Veterans Connect is developing affordable housing developments specifically designed for Veterans. Working with TGI Solar Power Group, we are creating smart homes that can provide homeless vets with their own 21st century home.

Disabled Veterans

Disabled veterans need very special benefits. We will be working with a number of organizations that provide those benefits.

Visit Our Resources

We’re still growing! We’ve added national resources as well as local resources for the Michiana area – the six counties of Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan which surround South Bend, IN.

Parents

Resources for individuals thinking of or are currently fostering or adopting; those expecting, those grieving, those who have struggled to become parents. Resources include counseling, coaching and mentoring, support groups, sources of donations, camps, respite centers, foster and adoption agencies, and much more.

Kids

There are many kinds of support for your child, be they foster, adopted, surrogate, step- or biological. Some specialize in services for disabled children, or those newly grieving. Some offer mentoring, some support groups, some scholarships, some donations to meet specific requests. There are many who want to provide support to your child in their journey.

Churches/Organizations

Churches and organizations have a key role to play in elevating the visibility of vulnerable children around us and providing support structures to those parents providing primary care. Check out the many organizations engaged in this way and see how you might get involved.

Donors

All the organizations featured on these pages could not do what they do without support from you. Donations big and small make Our Village thrive. Connect directly with those organizations listed here that most interest you. Many have received the highest ratings from charity evaluating organizations, so you can give to those organizations with confidence.

Volunteers

Many of the organizations listed here run on volunteer power. You can mentor a child, volunteer at a foster closet, or make a lasagna for a family in need. There’s a way for everyone to get involved!
